Marie & Rosetta surprise performance at St. Pancras station

On Wednesday 4th February, Beverley Knight and Ntombizodwa Ndlovu performed three songs in the station from their upcoming show celebrating the life and legacy of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the godmother of rock ’n’ roll.

Travellers and passers-by were delighted to spot Beverley Knight and Ntombizodwa Ndlovu at the station today, where they performed three songs from their upcoming stage show celebrating the extraordinary life and music of Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Often described as the godmother of rock ’n’ roll, Sister Rosetta Tharpe was a trailblazing guitarist and singer whose electrifying style influenced generations of musicians, from Elvis Presley to Johnny Cash. This new production offers an intimate portrait of Rosetta and her beloved singing partner Marie Knight, restoring their place in music history as one of its most revolutionary and influential duos.

The show features a wealth of rock and gospel classics, including Didn’t It Rain and Peace in the Valley, performed live with a full band. Olivier Award-winning star Beverley Knight takes on the role of Rosetta Tharpe, with Ntombizodwa Ndlovu starring as Marie Knight.

Their performance in the station offered a powerful preview of a show that celebrates music, partnership and a legacy that helped shape modern rock and soul.
