Roland Gift brings the Christmas cheer to St. Pancras International with a festive performance

St. Pancras International was treated to an unexpected dose of Christmas spirit today as Roland Gift, the unmistakable voice of Fine Young Cannibals, surprised commuters with a performance in the station. Roland performed two of the band’s biggest hits, Good Thing and Johnny Come Home, before singing his brand-new Christmas single, Everybody Knows It’s Christmas.

The surprise appearance comes as Roland celebrates an exciting new chapter with the release of FYC40, a career-spanning retrospective available on CD, vinyl and digital, alongside Everybody Knows It’s Christmas, which is now streaming and available on 7” and CD, complete with a Christmas card signed by Roland.

Speaking about the performance, Roland shared:
“It’s rare I get to do small pop-up shows like this anymore, so it was great to surprise people at St. Pancras International and play a couple of the classics — and even better to have a Christmas singalong, my favourite time of year!”

Peter Martin-Jones, Head of Marketing at London St. Pancras Highspeed, added:
“St. Pancras International has become one of London’s standout destinations for live music and cultural experiences. Moments like Roland’s festive performance bring the station to life, creating lasting memories for everyone who passes through. We’re proud to have welcomed such an influential figure in music, and delighted to add Roland to our growing roster of world-class performers.”

His visit adds to the station’s rich musical legacy, following surprise appearances from global stars including Elton John, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Jeff Goldblum and, most recently, Jessie J, all of whom have helped make the St. Pancras pianos a much-loved cultural landmark.
